Volunteers escort veterans to their doctor appointments who have no other means of transportation. Passengers must be ambulatory and a veteran. Reservations are at a first come first serve basis. There may be an escort to ride along if needed, but only temporary. Appointments must be between 9amó2pm Monday-Friday. There is no charge for the ride.

Personal companion to drive clients anywhere and stay with to provide assistance and companionship. Many errands can be combined into one outing and the client could even bring a friend with. Door-to ñdoor service is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Rate is $55 for the first three hours and includes all personal assistance and 15 miles of travel. Companion remains available as requested throughout the appointment or activity. In addition, if the client is working with a case manager the rate is $17an hour (20-30% off retail home care agency rates) for 100 hour contract that must be used over a maximum of 6 months. To qualify the clientís income is to be verified and a letter sent indicating that the client meets 100% FPL (Federal Poverty Level.)

Private pay service is available to Dane County seniors (55 or older) and adults with disabilities needing rides to and from medical, dental, or other therapeutic appointments. Service is limited to pick-ups and drop-offs within Dane County. Service is shared-ride door-to-door services. Cost is $3.00 per mile and billed by mail at the beginning of the month. Limited funding is available qualified riders to reduce the cost of rides to $1.50 per mile. Call Transportation Manager Rex Owens at 245-3074 for more information.
